IMAGE of Cincinnati
One of the goals of this website is to change the image of Cincinnati
from the current status of "not so great" to something a
whole lot better. I am not talking about public relations trickery,
I am talking about a very major reduction in violent crime, drug and
alcohol abuse, depressing neighborhoods, and health problems. I am
talking about a big improvement in race relations, community spirit
and police relations.
Things you can do:
-
Smile and say a warm "hello" to everyone
you pass during the day - try it!
- Bring more love into every decision and action you take.
- Celebrate the diversity of our city and respect those who are different
than you.
-
Don't use profanity - it's the language of everything
that is opposite of Love.
-
Don't abuse drugs or alcohol - it's a slippery slope
- don't degrade your health or your integrity.
-
Live within the law and advise those you know to be
breaking the law to find a better way.
-
Make a commitment that you are done with jelousy,
anger and all forms violence - It will not lead you to any happiness.
-
Be honest and live your word - if you say you will
do something - do it. This builds integrity and is essential to happiness.
- Pick your battles - some things are not worth a confrontation, be
clear about what you expect from those who you are responsible for and
once a month discuss how they are doing and how they could do better.
- Keep the city clean - pick up litter and when you see people litter
- ask them nicely not to.
Effecting these things will not be an easy task, there is no simple
answer. It will involve changing the way people think; one of the
most difficult tasks one could undertake. It will involve some deeply
entrenched ignorance in people in our own families, people in the
criminal element, city hall, state and federal politics, and big business.
To start, it will be one person at at time. As more join in an active
roll then several can be shown the way together. Then several turns
to many and many have a voice that more will listen to. Other cities
will inquire how Cincinnati has affected such a positive change and
they will want to learn from us. We can be the model of positive change.
It won't be a miracle, but it will be moving us in the right direction.
